Topic | usb 4 2.0 is so stupid |
Sahuagin 09/03/22 3:50:26 AM #10: | I'm not sure what the issue is. it seems to make sense when I read about it. USB-C is the connector, USB4 is the protocol which is up to 40 Gbps. USB4 2.0 also uses the USB-C connector and is up to 80 Gbps. hera posted... what is the difference between usb 3.2 gen 2+2 and what it was before it was renamed?the "gen" thing seems to be different (or at least, more specific). USB4 40Gbps is really USB4 Gen 3x2 (where Gen 3 is 20 Gbps and x2 is dual-lane, so double the speed). (Gen numbers seem to increase as doubles starting from 5. Gen 1 = 5, Gen 2 = 10, Gen 3 = 20.) these are "modes", and there are at least 4 of them for USB 3.2 and 4 for USB4, ranging from 5-40 Gbps. (this doesn't include USB4 2.0). USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is dual-lane 10 Gbps (so 20 Gbps). (Previously USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 was named USB 3.1 Gen 2, which yeah would be confusing.) I suppose you could say, why isn't "USB4 2.0" called "USB4 Gen 4x2", and that I don't know. Possibly it is; maybe that would be the name of the mode not the name of the protocol. Apparently the spec won't be published till November. --- The truth basks in scrutiny. http://i.imgur.com/GMouTGs.jpg http://projecteuler.net/profile/Sahuagin.png ... Copied to Clipboard! |
