A civil war is practically impossible in this country. Quality of life is too high for most people to be interested, and the country is too bloated to properly break apart. Our police are militarized and our military is big. National guard itself has enough equipment to stamp down most with force.

Most states would shut down the moment they lose access to food from other states. Especially access to California.

And then you have the problem of who the rebels are even fighting against. Police who are politically aligned with the rebels but just doing their job? Local governments who don't really have power to do much anyway? Left-wingers who are also satisfied enough with life to just throw a white flag and ask to not be involved?

There's also that big states aren't split along party lines enough. Might have this slightly wrong, but California, bastion of the blue, has more Republicans in it than any other state.

It would take an intentional schism in the military to lead to any real chance at civil war. And as we've seen with 1/6, even the assholes who will take action are mostly buffoons and won't actually take that much action.

Anybody who acts alone, like the guy that shot up Cincinnati, will just get shot in return.
