Yeah I really dont get people that make sports part of their identity.

Boring people always feel the need to define themselves by the things they like, because there's literally nothing else interesting about them to build a personality around.

It's the same logic as why you get fanatic console defenders on the Internet, or people who will shit on you for not liking the same shows they like, and so on. They incorporate the thing they love into their own sense of self-identity, to the point where if you tell them you don't like or don't care about that thing, it feels like a personal attack on them.

Sorry, I forgot to say that I whipped my glasses off and said that I used my spare time to read books instead of watching sports, and everyone around me clapped.

But it was a genteel golf clap, because the classy intelligentsia are respectful and polite, and don't hoot and holler and smash their hands together like the filthy plebs do.
