Xenoblade 3 discussion from before BUT added spoilers for the Hero Quest (Eunie's) I mentioned having just unlocked:

Yeah, it's a little weird that the *concept* in general blows their mind given the Nopon. But the Nopon continue to exist in a weird space. Way, way earlier (whenever the Affinity Chart unlocked) I noted how while all the colony folk had their "age" listed as "Term #" the Nopon had the usual "Age" so they were very probably not part of the pod grown population but that that itself raised the question of them having an idea of what's going on in the world. But Riku and Manana act like that's news to them. I actually am willing to believe it for Manana but I still think Riku knows shit. That said, at one point Manana responds to a comment about Nopon being everywhere with something like "Nopon are magical race that are everywhere" and like shit she isn't really *wrong*, particularly from the point of view of everyone else lol. I could believe that even if the Nopon life cycle was noticed (and like TRE says, Noah points out they never had time to question why monsters had one but humanoids seemingly didn't) they just chalked it up as "Nopon are just weird."

Anyway, bringing that back to Eunie's Hero Quest however, when Riku interjects to calm Eunie down from X's taunts X off-handedly mentions that she was "told the Nopon aren't supposed to interfere" which very much makes me think there's some agreement between the Nopon and Moebius on some level to not just reveal everything. Unlikely that every Nopon knows and it's probably a closely guarded caravan higher-up secret or something but definitely think that implies some level of agreement between them. City Nopon presumably excepted though it's also a little weird that *that* hasn't leaked from them either.

Speaking of X/Eunie's Hero Quest however. How in the world was X's "Moebius made up the Colony Ranks" statement a reveal of *any* kind to *anyone*, let alone some megaton like it apparently landed as? Who did they *think* was behind that? Commanders obviously can't self-promote so like by simple process of elimination it had to be either the Consuls or the Castle both of which the group knows to be Moebius. If this took place before Keves Castle you could argue they thought maybe the Queen was determining it since they kept holding out hope the Queen was independent of all that but they know that's not true now too, at least as far as the Queens at the Castles are concerned. Gold rank being a trap, okay, sure, that could come as a surprise to them even though I'd speculated along similar lines since we got the Eunie flashback (and with this quest revealing that Gold Rank meant you got to retire it was 200% obviously bullshit) but this feels like either a translation mishap or the party is just really, really dumb.
