As much as they were stupid to try, that does really highlight the problems with the two-party system. A gay man should be able to vote for fiscal conservatism without also voting to give up his right to vote. That's also why so many people take issues with being called homophobic and racist just for voting Republican, since they don't align with those ideals, they just like other aspects of the party well enough to ignore them (though that means they don't see homophobia/racism as a problem, which is something they can still be held accountable for). I can at least respect these people for trying to change the party for the better, even if their efforts were doomed to failure.

On the bright side, fragmenting these movements and splitting their votes is only a good thing for those of us that aren't Nazi scum.
