My thought process with that one was "they're both mages that lower the opponent's defenses and therefore increase your damage output", which they are. Summer Karyl is just much better at that purpose for boss battles because she's single-target and lowers defenses even more.

S!Saren took over Kokkoro/Monika's spot (attack speed and attack boost) for team building more than regular Saren.

I was thinking more about Summer Saren's usage as a TP battery (which she does better than normal Saren) rather than the attack/speed buff, but you're right that she does that better than Kokkoro/Monika too. She's basically all three of those characters combined into one perfect package.

Out of the Summer characters that I actually paid enough attention to know what they do, Pecorine was the only one whose Summer form is drastically different from her normal form to the point where they share absolutely nothing in common. All the others I knew at least shared something in common through their skills or general usage, so that's why I thought it was more likely that Maho was like the others rather than an exception like Pecorine. If I caused any confusion with my incorrect assumption, then I apologize.
