I wish it weren't, but it seems that "this apparent public health crisis might only spread by gay sex so we don't need to worry about it" is an attitude a non-trivial number of people are adopting. I understand that a big part of that is being so fatigued by having to care about Covid that even the ones that have taken Covid seriously are more willing to accept an excuse that paints this as being minor, but there really isn't enough data to jump to that conclusion so quickly, and the obvious parallels between this response and the early response to HIV are concerning enough that they should be giving people pause (even without addressing how deplorable the attitude of "if only gay people are in danger then we don't need to do anything" is).
