At the beginning of the campaign, we discovered Earth was trapped in a dome placed by the Alpha Lanterns, trapping the entire planet, and its populace, inside with Darkseid and his forces, as well as causing massive climate changes. One of our first, and most difficult, goals sounded simple, find a way to make contact to those beyond the dome. In the end it proved much more difficult than that, but eventually we made it out, and reached Oa, home of the beings called the Guardians of the Universe.

The Guardians of the Universe are the creators of the Green and Alpha Lanterns. The Green Lanterns, being extremely willful, are capable of being very stubborn. The Guardians of the Universe are significantly more stubborn than Green Lanterns, and as such, our pleas for the dome to be taken down fell on deaf ears, except for the ears of one Guardian, the aptly named Scar.

Scar is aptly named, as she has a scar on her face that does not heal. It does not heal specifically because she wants to keep it as a reminder of getting it. The Guardians of the Universe are not meant to feel emotions, so they can make their decisions as unbiased as possible. However, after Parallax, and with the rise of the Sinestro Corps and Darkseid's aggression, the Guardians have begun to feel the slightest bit of...fear. One Guardian, Ganthet, left the Guardians, in search of another emotion.

While other Guardians try to put down their fledgling emotions, Scar seems to be carefully exploring them, serving as our one true ally within the Guardians. She's a timeless being, but in this she's very much a rookie, albeit one with an eternity of wisdom behind her.

The Guardians in general are frustrating, but what makes Scar frustrating is that she's on our side, something she is sure to remind us even as she listens in on our conversations at the times that give off the worst impressions, and that carries an extra bit of a threat knowing that she is among the universe's most important beings. The Guardians are frustrating because they're stubborn in sticking to their ways, Scar is the opposite. She's open, she's curious, she's changing. But she's still a Guardian, always watching, always listening, and perhaps a little on edge about what these travelers from Sol's intentions are towards her and her kind.

Hint for #46: This character was part of the US government.
