3's start is almost as good as 2. Very cinematic, I love all the action and destruction of things in the background too. Exhilarating. Also it's kind of crazy how much the combat and gameplay evolved from the first. Obviously not a crazy opinion or anything that 3 is the best in that regard, but everything from how weapons handle, how they shoot, how you move in combat to the actual environments themselves it's just such a good leap in design. Really the only thing that hasn't evolved all the much is how you command your teammates.

I still don't like the child thing. I get that Shepard(and he even says it outright after meeting the kid) can't save everyone, and that moving forward his dreams/ptsd is mostly about all the people he couldn't save, and then Kaiden get his ass beat by Eva and almost dies. I get what they are trying to do with Shepard's psyche and I'll go as far to say I don't think it's necessarily bad just not my cup of tea on how they explore that aspect.

Also Singularity is so good in this game. No reason to keep Liara out because it's so good for crowd control and combo attacks. Mars Archives is very fun first level. I do really like how the game sets up a ton of drama right from the beginning, and really doesn't let off the gas. With the Reaper invasion, Illusive man's schemes with Reaper tech and trying to control them, which also just leads my brain straight to the ending(s)-and outright makes me feel like control is not the right option at all. On top of that the other option is basically just Saren's option which he committed suicide over, which leads me to believe that isn't the right option either.

I'll get there when I get there, but I suppose I never realized how the 2 of the options basically reflect the ideals of two villain's.
