Spike's first instinct would be to try and catch DK in his net. To do that, he has to get in close, which is where DK wants to be in a fight. Spike is an ordinary 10 year old boy, he doesn't have super strength or anything like that, so DK could easily overpower him. By the time Spike tried to use his more powerful gadgets (like the aforementioned orbital strike), it would be too late for him.
