He has numerous times in the past tried to defend his war criminal grandfather from criticism of being a war criminal. Sins of the father and all that, his grandpa taking part in war crimes in WW2 shouldn't reflect on him, but his outright denial of proven historical facts puts him on the same level as holocaust deniers. Not only did he say there wasn't proof that comfort women were unwilling, he proudly visited a shrine to verified war criminals that Japan's own emperor said he would never visit, and he did a photo op on a plane marked with 731.
