Top Gun Maverick has made more than Dr. Strange 2 globally and Maverick is still showing in theaters while Strange is only showing in very select theaters, so TGM is going to make way more when it's all said and done. I never watched the original Top Gun and I'm sure there's a cultural thing here I'm missing, but to think a Marvel movie couldn't beat Tom Cruise is kind of sad. I do like Tom Cruise movies and there's a good chance I'll go see TGM, but it's upsetting Dr. Strange 2 didn't do so well for Marvel standards

I do like the refreshing take Raimi gave to the MCU and even though I don't like horror, I actually enjoyed the horror bits and found them humorous at times; however, my concern is Disney/Marvel will look at the box office numbers and think the movie underperformed because of Raimi, so he will not be given another opportunity to direct a Marvel movie, but more importantly, they will be afraid of straying from the formula because they think only when they play it safe will their movies be "well-received" and the box office numbers will meet whatever lofty goals they set

Dr. Strange 2's global box office compared with No Way Home's global box office is like comparing an ant to an elephant. Opinions will differ, of course, but I wouldn't say NWH was a way better movie than Strange 2. I actually enjoyed the latter more because I love Strange and Wanda. I still enjoyed NWH and it was nice to see the Spiderman trio team up, but I am quite puzzled by what made the movie so successful
