You could stretch it and argue that the only reason that the champions win is because they are champions and therefore must win to progress the plot. In terms of on screen victories up until before this tournament I think Cynthia has the most impressive wins as she's defended her title against Aaron, Flint and Lucian, all Sinnoh Elite 4 trainers.
