Haven't been paying much attention to international affairs, what happened that's causing all of this?

  • Deputy Chief Whip resigned after being caught groping people.
  • It emerges he had previous allegations against him that Boris should aware of when he was appointed.
  • Number 10 sends out a string of Ministers to do the press circuits, claiming Boris knew nothing.
  • Turns out (shock!) Boris knew everything.
  • The story from Number 10 keeps changing, to the extent that Ministers touting the official line on national TV are finding out just hours later that they were sent out to lie.
  • Lord McDonald publishes a letter saying that not only did Boris know, as has already come out, but that Pincher was found guilty of the assaults, which Number 10 had referred to just as the matters being "resolved".
  • Urgent Question is asked in Parliament about this yesterday afternoon. Boris sends yet another Minister to answer it, and his response, predictably, has already been contradicted.
  • Boris finally makes a statement yesterday evening saying that while he had been told that Pincher was a proven sex pest, he "forgot".
  • Almost immediately after this the resignations start coming in. Mainly because people are upset that they were directed to lie about Boris promoting a groper, not because the groper got promoted.
