I think he should have stayed as just an entertainer mingling with the likes of "pro" wrestlers and sexy models...but I guess his ego wouldn't let him. tbh, this basically reinforces the idea that nobody seemed to pay attention to politics before Trump took office and, rather obviously, nobody has paid much attention since. All presidents are known for gaffes or ridiculous remarks ("It's easier for kids to get their hands on a gun than a book"), as well as things taken out of context. If you pick up a newspaper, odds are one of your state's politicians is probably saying something stupid. In many cases, that stupid remark is the above-the-fold headline Beyond that, at least some of Trump's behavior was intentional attention-seeking rather than unintentional gaffes (see: Biden, Obama, GWB, Clinton, Reagan, etc).
