Ah, I misremembered the Bothans line.

I also think Solo isn't a good movie to "turn your brain off" to either - the movie is full of callbacks and homage. It gives respect to nostalgia in a way that none of the other recent films really do.

Yeah but knowing the fate of the main characters is imo more important.

It's all about whether the movie can draw you in. Sometimes knowing things matters sometimes it doesn't. I would argue in Rogue One it didn't.

Note I can't really speak for Solo I just disagree with your assessment of that being the case in Rogue One.

You can't disagree? You're focusing on the fate of the characters, I'm focusing on the plot. We know the Death Star plans end up with Leia. 100% know that. I am right on that. You are right that we don't know the fates of these new characters going in.

Where we would disagree is in knowing the fates of the characters, if that matters as much. But I think at this point, whatever has been said is pretty surface-level, and I could respond by pointing out that there's plenty of media where we know what's going to happen and it's still good, and you would focus on the drawing in, and we'd not be having a real argument in that case.
