Best movie since the Original Trilogy. That's what Star Wars is.

Alden was a great Han. Nailed mannerisms, some delivery was really good. Same as with Glover. Both of them could have used a little more inflection in some of their softer line deliveries, but it landed often enough.

And Rogue One was great but Solo had the Star Wars charm. It, along with Mandalorian, are very clearly made by Star Wars fans. I can see peoples' reasoning for liking Rogue One more, but it's not one I can quite agree with atm, especially since Solo blew it out of the water with cast. RO had cinematography for sure tho.

Donald Glover was a good Lando, but I can't agree about Alden. Just imitating some mannerisms doesn't compensate for the lack of the charm and charisma Harrison Ford brought to the character.

I'd be more okay with the movie if he was just some random Star Wars guy who wasn't Han Solo, but I don't think it's very good regardless.

Guy had plenty enough of charm. True, he wasn't Harrison Ford, but Ewan McGregor wasn't great in episode 1 and now he's the character more than Sir Alec Guinness is.

Thought it was terrible personally. The worst of the live action Star Wars movies (Clone Wars is still worse). Real bad dialogue and story. Acting too, yeah.

The ending sequence was solid at least. The confrontation on the planet, I mean.

I enjoyed it, but it didn't have many stand-out moments, the last hour of RO probably puts it above Solo for me. I likes both though, and I'm sad we're not getting movies anymore because it didn't do as well as it should have.

Also, Clone Wars movie isn't terrible it just doesn't really have anything going for it either.

Solo was a steaming pile of garbage and basically killed the yearly star wars singular entries. A movie no one wanted and used a guy who would never recreate the charm of Han.

Rogue One was great though. It gave us hope that Solo destroyed.

"Bad acting" movie had the most loaded cast of any Star Wars film.

And Corrik, Rogue One came out first.

I'm still sitting high on the movie after sleeping on it. I think it's barmy that people can't accept what was a rather solid recasting.

He has good moments, but what I said was "not great" and I stand by that. Not being given as much is a part of that. I also think it's not a problem. Ewan got steadily more like Guinness as he got older.

I am well aware of this.

Rogue One gave us hope. That Solo destroyed.

It wasn't Solo destroyed it then Rogue One gave us hope after.

It was Rogue One gave us hope then Solo took a steaming fucking dump all over it and destroyed it.

Us not getting standalone films anymore seems fair after what Solo did to it.

Ah ok, your sentence read weird to me at the time.

The funny thing is, I put off watching Solo for awhile because I felt like a Han prequel was unneeded, and I didn't need to see a fascimile of Han Solo either. I have a feeling that was a common sentiment, and after seeing it, I would conclude that most people just went in with bias or didn't go in, with bias.

I will also state, which scarlet pointed out last night, that Solo was written in an episodic way and probably would have made for a better tv series than movie.

I am not big on stories where we already know the outcomes for those involved unless it is a top notch story. This just demeaned things, rather than mattered.

That said, lightspeed in Star Wars makes zero sense right now... and I mostly blame TLJ for it.

Yeah, it's not the predetermined outcome that's the problem with Solo for me. It does lessen some of the drama knowing certain characters can't die (Rogue One didn't have this issue, for what it's worth, at least for the main cast), but that's not a breaking point for me.

Honestly, either Solo or The Force Awakens is my favorite Star Wars movie outside of the original trilogy. The only real problem I have is that is is a BIT too dark in terms of the camerawork for something that's largely meant to be more of an upbeat and fun adventure.

Solo is great. Turn your brain off and enjoy the adventure, it's just good old fashioned Star Wars fun for the most part. Yeah it's got some issues like terrible lightning and some questionable script decisions, but let's not pretend that we ignore the first hour of Rogue One which is a mess. We all still love that movie though.

The original movie did state that many Bothans died to bring the Rebellion the Death Star plans.

Either way, we knew the outcome of the movie. If the argument is that we didn't know the fate of the characters, one can say the same thing about Qi'ra and Beckett in Solo.

Yeah but knowing the fate of the main characters is imo more important.

It's all about whether the movie can draw you in. Sometimes knowing things matters sometimes it doesn't. I would argue in Rogue One it didn't.

Note I can't really speak for Solo I just disagree with your assessment of that being the case in Rogue One.
