If you are able to, and your husband can watch the baby, you should probably go. There is a greater chance you regret not going than regret going.

Or you could take the baby?
Yes were looking at flights. I would go alone. My daughter is 14 months and the worst age to fly. We actually just came back from Montreal a month ago and took her. It was a rough trip. While there my mom was also hospitalized due to extreme anemia due to the stomach hernia. She had to have a blood transfusion. Its why they ordered to move up the surgery. She was on a wait list for a year before.

That sounds horrible, I got an infection during a pacemaker surgery 2 years ago, and I had to go back in for 9 days and have 2 more surgeries. I hope everything works out for your mother.Did the surgeon mention this as a possible complication at the pre op consult?
I dont really know what was covered with her. She seemed surprised to hear about it. But shes also not the best at understanding things. Shes an immigrant and struggles with the language. My sister should have been present to advocate for her and understand those things. I asked my sister what the discharge instructions were and she dodged the question. I should have known better than to rely on her.
