I'd listened to Ephemeral Glory B before this year, but during nominations this hit me much harder than it did before. It feels really big-- the opening chords immediately give you that impression, like you're gazing at an immense being of unknowable beauty and majesty. This feeling persists throughout the track; it's ancient, alien, a little terrifying. I smiled a bit at the genre description of SPARSE here-- this feels thick and lush, from the beautiful percussion layers to the myriad plucked strings and wind instruments. Taken as a whole, it's one of the most stunning compositions in the contest for me.

-Tyrian Maze is one of the nicest 'cave/dungeon' tracks I've heard-- I love how the close placement of the instruments and their reverb and echo define the space they're in. it's another case where all of the smaller elements of the track combine to make something that sounds really cool; I love the string chords themselves and the way they swell
