Smoking pot carries similar risks to smoking tobacco or any other substance. You're damaging your lungs, potentially scarring ling tissue and making it unusable, and you're ingesting chemicals that can build up in your body and - in extreme circumstances - make you sick.

I'm pro-pot. I'm pro-regulation, I'm pro-decriminalization. But I maintain that marijuana does have an effect on the brain and introduces toxins to the body, as well as all of the physical risks of the act of smoking. So weed isn't laced with chemicals like ammonia - you're still inhaling a pollutant that leaves remnants of its narcotic substance in your body, and the act of smoking is risky to your lungs, period.

I've gone on this rant before. I've grown up around stoners, and you can see how slow they get after years and years of smoking. Weed, while less harmful than alcohol, is bad for you. Too much chocolate is bad for you, of course a narcotic like THC and the means in which you consume it are going to be harmful too.

I've heard that "too much water is bad for you" line before, from some fucking weedbro facetiously saying we should ban water for all the deaths it's caused - as if it's not a vital building block of all life on earth, and in immediate proximity to most humans at any given time. All I'm saying is that there's a risk, and people who smoke and champion pot should at least admit the basic, intrinsic risk of smoking and the ingestion of narcotic substances, even if it's in a preferable light to both alcohol and tobacco. Because there is.

Again - pro-weed, pro-regulation, pro-decriminalization. If someone's still in jail for marijuana offences committed years ago, they should be released. The fact that dispensaries are allowed to corner the market on a marijuana industry while there are still people in jail on drug charges - possession, consumption and selling - relating solely to marijuana is unjust, and the proper treatment of people jailed for a decriminalized substance is just as important as the ability to buy and sell marijuana at a consumer's own discretion. I'm on-board.

But the one thing that fucks me off are weedbros who say it's safer than water and it's just alarmist shilling to talk about any risk in smoking weed. Like any narcotic agent, like any smoked substance, there is a risk. Lesser than alcohol, but it's still there. And I have a hard time believing anyone to be as honest and magnanimous as they claim when they say that smoking pot has zero risk.
