Mars
Combat Beneath the Waves
A CYBER'S WORLD?

Mars 6.5 The drums and bass remind me of a mix between a steam engine train and a tribal jamacian drum set, the way it keeps pushing the pace forward, while keeping an air of funk. The random guitar riffs (xenoblade style) were cool to hear. I feel this track overall just has a presence of joy and fun.

FEHLT (DEEMO edition) 5 Deemo music! I usually like the calmer, piano oriented deemo tracks. It's odd to hear the piano transformed into a flurry of notes as an accompany to the faster rock and drums. the vocals made me think of nier music. I liked the break between vocals where all the instruments just raided the scene and added some controlled chaos. Overall I think all the elements are cool, but don't work well together.

Move Me 3 The only part of this I really like is the r4 motif just because i've heard it so often in other songs. The rock is ok but it pretty much stays at the same pace and intensity the whole way through so it comes off as very samey. There are some side instruments that get peppered in here and there, but the song doesn't stray as much as I'd like it to.

Combat Beneath the Waves 8 I remember kind of liking this back when I heard it during noms. The contrast in the crying violins and the fast paced backing was unique. The violin continues to evolve and have a really interesting story to tell through the melody in the second part (1:40ish). Usually violins have somewhat the same roles and sound in a lot of vgm, so for me to take special note of it in this song was pretty cool. So that and the layering of the different parts made this track good.

Ethnic Cave & Flame 2.5 This track is going up against cybers world , kinda a favorite of mine, so i gave it a couple listen throughs for more of a fair chance. sorry,, i dont like it. Theres some small jazzy bits that puncture the background occasionally that are really nice. I wish they came to the foreground of the song more. The drum parts aren't too bad either, but again they're pushed mostly to the back. As for the main repeating motif is bland and one dimensional to me. It doesn't really match the rest of the song either. This aspect feels at its worst when all the sections play at once in an incoherent mess. I guess if the intent was to create confusion and dissonance it works.

A CYBER'S WORLD? 8.8 I really love how this song plays the single channel with the motif before launching into the full concert version. The B part at 1:05 is super jamming and I like how abrupt the change is, with the pseudo vocals taking front stage. At the same time, I love how as the section progresses, the other instruments gradually chime in for a smooth transition to the final section. There's just a great flow throughout the song. there's so many surprising elements that catch your attention, but the main motif and beat keep the whole track unified with a consistent theme.
