So it's like a reboot/playthrough of the DC universe? I don't really follow comics but that's a neat concept

No context for the setup at all, but tag nonetheless.

I guess it goes to show how much Aquaman is a blindspot for me, because even as a DC slut I've never even HEARD of AJ Curry.

Okay, so let's do this fast.

Campaign 1 - we all established our characters, with a choice of contacts if we wanted them. My character was, in a single sentence: "Piano player for the Penguin who is forever friend-zoned by Barbara Gordon".

After a few opening sessions, the earthquake hit, and after a small timeskip, we were thrown into No Man's Land. We ended No Man's Land by uniting the city under the leadership of Mayor Arthur Brown, aka Cluemaster.

So for this campaign, three people chose to play their characters from the prior campaign, and the rest of us went in with someone new.

It is five years after No Man's Land. And in little blurbs all of our characters got, we got abducted by agents of what appeared to be Checkmate, and then were missing for a few months.

In our opening sessions, we were woken up from suspended animation tubes. One group in Metropolis by Mitchell Black Peacemaker, one group in Gotham by Ratcatcher. Each of us were told how the world had been absolutely screwed over-

The villains of the world united and attacked Metropolis. A number of heroes were missing, but the ones that were around stuck there to fight. The heroes lost. Superboy was killed.

Later, a three-hour broadcast went over every air/internet/radio wave in the country - the Anti-Life Equation. In one fell blow, a large portion of the world was Equated. Mindless aggressive sychophants from Darkseid.

ADDITIONALLY as we came to find out at the end of each opening session, the Spectre had become unhinged and was trying to destroy all magic.

Anyway, the Metropolis group found a city taken over by Justifiers, the Equated, and the Society. They managed to escape and find the contact, Snapper Carr, but Peacemaker got killed by Prometheus in the process.

In Gotham, we escaped through the sewers to Slaughter Swamp, but on the way, found out Gotham had been taken over by Simon Hurt and his army of cyborg OMAC's. We got to the Swamp, met with Snapper Carr, and snapped to our base...

Z'onn Z'orr. A base in the ice in Antarctica used by White Martians in an invasion from five years ago. It was the most secure place on Earth, and there we would operate as agents of Checkmate under the direction of Amanda Waller.

Since then, we've gone on two Snaps a week - usually to locations on Earth (Berlin, Los Angeles, Gotham), but recently found a convoluted way to get to space. We just recently, in week 71, set up our second base in the stars on Oa, now ready to help earn some clout with the Green Lantern Corps.

On the way, we've dealt with and integrated with the Society, stopped a couple of Apokalyptian Fire Pits from opening up, met up with the Shadowpact to help fight the Spectre, and assorted other fun bits.

This week, we are doing a continuation of a session in San Francisco after getting captured by Bolt's son and being taken to Alcatraz which is under the control of the Mad Hatter, and the other group is doing their fourth session on Hardcore Station in outer space which has been a murder mystery where they have to prove that Rac Shade, the Changing Man, did not do the crime that only he could possibly have committed.

It's a lot. But it's loads of fun.
