America is not the only media culture with a fuck ton of guns in their tv and movies, but is somehow the only one where mass shootings are a regular occurrence. and thinking guns are kewl isnt going to have a significant effect on people's opinions of gun regulation. The cultural fetishization of guns that deliberately obstructs attempts at regulation are rooted in outdated conservative beliefs and a worship of traditional authority structures like the police and military, and are largely unrelated to Hollywood. While mass shootings have been linked to a phenomenon of media glamorization, it's specifically of how the news glamorizes those incidents. Tl;dr: their heart is in the right place and something is probably better than nothing, but movie/tv representation of guns, by all accounts, isn't what's feeding America's cultural problems when it comes to guns. --- Lusa Cfaad Taydr ...
