AAI1-5, Turnabout Ablaze

Wow, y'all. I finished it. A good Miles Edgeworth Investigations was had by all.

Oh lordy Shih-na is Calisto Yew, also an alias! A funky lil' laughing person. We burn part of her coat and it burns green, therefore she did pass through the fireplace and is our person. Also we can compare any fingerprints to her old perfume bottle. Anyway, she confesses to being the Yatagarasu.

AND NOT ONLY THAT.

But the Yatagarasu is not only one person. Y'all. It is 3 people: Byrne Faraday, Calisto Yew, and Tyrell Badd. Between the 3 of them, they had access to all info needed to warn wrongdoers that their wrongdoings would be their undoing!

There's this great moment where Yew-as-Shih-na threatens to kill Kay, and then the camera shifts and Badd is pointing his gun directly at her. Lang jumps in front of the shot ['because she's still my subordinate']. Kay gets to keep some Hair Sticks after this interaction, but they're weird because they have dirt on them. Hmmmm.

Turns out Yew killed Faraday because the smuggling ring needed to get rid of the Yatagarasu. That's the only reason. Real smuggling ring boss is still walking free.

There's a whole bit where the Hair Sticks were supports for Alba's Passionflowers and they were used as Arrows to create a pulley system with the ceiling fans [increasingly unlikely but it's AA logic so it gets a handwave] and swap the Primidux statues.

We crack open the Primidux statue that feels light and liftable, and it's got Counterfeit Plates inside for printing Zheng Fa cashmoneymillions. Alba claims he got wounded while killing DeMasque II in self-defense. Suspich. He runs off and seems agitated. We poke around the lobby of the Theatrum Neutralis, connect some Logic points, realize Alba wanted to pin the smuggling on the now-deceased Coachen.

There's a pic of Alba and Palaeno with their respective flower bouquets and the Steel Samurai/Larry. Alba's bouquet contains the handle of the Allebahstian knife!!

We go through an exhaustive number of Testimonies with the Eternal Quercus Alba. He is not having it, but we figure out that Coachen was killed, stuck in a cart, and moved using the joined pool reservoir and Bilateral Symmetry of the embassy. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that cart with a dead body inside would float but AA asks us to believe it so fiiiiine.

We prove that the Allebahstian knife made the journey because the still-wet Pick is one of the flower petals on the handle and fell off!!

At this point Alba is still being a pain and claims he was at the Steel Samurai show so he couldn't have killed Coachen. He really slips by not only mentioning a special move that was only known among the crew and not used in the final show because of Larry warping the Spear, forcing them to use Sushi Slice instead.

The localization team really enjoys the phrase "peanut gallery".

There's a spot of Alba's blood on a box of Samurai Dogs, turns out the Dogs were in the cart and removed to make room for Coachen's body. The blood was from when he got poked. How did he get poked when no weapons are allowed in the Theatrum Neutralis, you ask? Because of the YATAGARASU KEY WHICH IS ALSO A STABBY KNIFE.

We end with a successful offscreen trial and a super chaotic-adorable selfie taken by Kay of herself, Miles panicking, and Gumshoe having a good time.

The little interviews during the credits are always a good time. I can now admit to y'all that I find Tyrell Badd mmm... handsome. Is it warm in here?

Case ranking time!
Case 4: Turnabout Reminiscence - fun to flashback and also fun to solve.
Case 5: Turnabout Ablaze - ending case but also had draggy moments.
Case 2: Turnabout Airlines - more traditional whodunit.
Case 3: The Kidnapped Turnabout - This one dragged even though it was fun to run around for a bit there.
Case 1: Turnabout Visitor - it's tough to rank the opening case higher than this, really. Unless there's something exciting or different that happens.

Thanks again to colliding for making the game available for me to play.

Next is Spirit of Justice! See you then!
