i think one of the reasons why i liked RotS better than TPM is that i appreciated all of the fanservicey references. the construction of the death star (tarkin finally shows up), alderaan, kashyyyk - with direct reference to the freaking holiday special, of all things... it's just fun to see all of that stuff. TPM, despite a lot of familiar characters appearing, didn't feel as connected to the old movies.

also, i do hate jar jar, so him not having a speaking part at all in RotS was a huge improvement for me. and angsty anakin sucks but i still prefer him to kid anakin, who's completely insufferable.
