On average a 70 year old is going to have far worse vision than a 40 year old, even if neither person ever went for a Lasik procedure. Just like how a 70 year old will face more medical issues in general than a 40 year old the eyes start going as time passes in most cases.

Blaming Lasik for the reason why this happens is ridiculous.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 10, and my prescription gradually worsened over time, but it's been relatively stable for the last 20 years or so.

But now that I'm in my mid-40s I've started to notice that I'm losing the ability to snap-focus as quickly as I used to, and in spite of the fact that I've been nearsighted my entire life, now I'm actually starting to have trouble reading small print or things up close. To the point where I've started to worry I might wind up needing bifocals soon.

Now I'm the old guy in a restaurant who has to lift his glasses up to read the menu.
