People who try to use dogs for protection while having kids are setting themselves up for failure. You don't want a dog around kids to have any ill will towards humans at all. You want it to be a coward. Don't chance them misunderstanding a moment and getting their wires crossed. Same way you wouldn't give a 9 year old a gun to protect a 5 year old. You're just opening your family up to be harmed by mistakes.

You have to train a dog to be a guard dog. Some people just get big dogs and don't socialize them but that would make them dog aggressive not people aggressive.

The issue is that people get dogs with questionable breeding backgrounds and can't train them

Just think. Now you're all set to hunt and kill to your heart's content.
