I think the anime got some false praise in the community before airing that got people that wouldn't have been interested to watch and end up disappointed, like me. A lot of people had been comparing it to last seasons dress up darling when apparently, it never tried to be anything like that and is just a relatively simple SOL romance.

My big complaint is that the gimmick of main guy being essentially cursed to have objects fly at his head is not funny and isn't explored in any kind of interesting way. Every scene practically is some object falling or flying towards main guy and then shikimori blocks it asks if he is ok in a "cool" way. That's it. The show is that one gimmick on repeat and it's never spiced up unlike, say, sakamoto. The writer needs to be creating new and interesting ways for shikomori to look cool, but he just wasn't able to come up with even one that was interesting in the first few episodes. I kept hoping the next scene wouldn't be the same thing again but it always was.

I personally didn't feel like it was TOO bad in the first episode, cause it was introducing stuff, and I expected them to just use that as a base to establish the characters before moving into a more normal highschool comedy, but they didn't.
