Some One Piece post-Water 7 thoughts
- I like all the little vignettes of characters from earlier arcs reacting to the events of Water 7
- Got introduced to Brooks WAY earlier than I thought, I thought there was this huge gap of time between the other straw hats joining the crew and him appearing. But 1. For all I know, Brooks leaves after this mini arc and only properly joins way later and 2. since I'm reading this manga so quickly, I'm not appreciating how long the story was when it was first released I mean, it may have been like a year between the Luffy/Lucci fight and Brooks showing up for all I know!
- I can't believe Luffy's dad's name is Monkey D. Dragon. I thought for sure that all of Luffy's family would have a different animal in their name, but Dragon has two!! I guess Monkey D. Garp is the same way... is Garp an animal? I suppose Monkey is their last name. But Ace's name isn't Monkey D. Ace, huh
- It's funny to think about how different this manga translation is to what I can only assume to be the "accepted" translation from the older the sub/older fan translations of the manga. Zoro/Zolo is an obvious example. I wonder if I'm in a JoJo's situation, like me thinking Lucci's moves are called "Finger Pistol" and "Shave" would be the same as someone thinking Kira's stand is called "Deadly Queen", you know?
