I dont want it to appear that Im trying to downplay the atrocities committed against trans people by the Nazis, or under-emphasize the impact that we are still seeing today because of itthe amount of records, research and data lost when the institute was attacked, and how many generations of progress the trans community has lost as a result of being made less visible in the modern historical records, are incalculable. Im 100% on your side here.

I was only trying to clarify the issue for someone who seemed skeptical about this key part of the history of trans erasure, without downplaying the rest of the Nazi ideology, which largely consisted of a focus on racial/genetic purity. I did this because I have seen too often attempts to include gay and trans victims of Nazi crimes against humanity be twisted (by bad faith arguers, invariably) as attempts to erase other victims of the Holocaust, particularly Jewish and Romani, and I sought to circumvent that before it had the potential to become an issue.
