Im not very familiar with reddit. The only time I used reddit was for Survivor, the show. And saying things that deviated even slightly was always downvoted there.

Here, even if what I say is unpopular, I can still get engagement. But certain posters just make it difficult. Like the PoundGarden guy up there bringing up something that happened years ago I can barely even remember. Its as if someone has a bad take on one topic, they are disqualified from talking about anything else.

But I guess I can try it if you think itd be more beneficial.
Online it's really hard to distinguish trolling from ignorance sometimes. And if a community is constantly being trolled/attacked, they're understandably going to be naturally hypervigilant. It sounds like you don't have much exposure to information about trans people at all, so maybe it'd be a good idea to just ask basic questions first to develop a baseline knowledge of trans experiences before tackling your question in the OP.

I say this because even if you ask your question and get genuine answers, those answers may not really even click with you if you aren't already familiar with trans identities.

That's my two cents.
