i don't think she's necessarily motivated by the gender aspect of it as much. Maybe it plays a part but I think she's just falling into the overall 'Im so much smarter than all of you and I will prove it by being unethical' hole that Jimmy fell into. I don't know if she's necessarily motivated by the man/woman power dichotomy.
Also yeah, the show definitely takes points to show that she is more competent than Jimmy in certain areas, like when she argued his innocence for Lalo while Jimmy was too terrified to come up with anything. But it also takes points to show that Jimmy has been through the school of hard knocks when it comes to the scams, and that Kim is much less competent in that department. I feel like her overall overconfidence, fueled by having Jimmy by her side to enable her to reach beyond her means will be her downfall here.
