I don't even "mostly" believe Johnny, I fully believe him.

Unless new information changes things later, Amber's already admitted to hitting Johnny multiple times, while every recording of conflict between them involves Johnny actively trying to put distance between them to *avoid* conflict. He doesn't seem like a wife beater or abuser in this situation at all.

I really don't know how Amber thought any of these recordings would make her look good, outside of the few where Johnny gets fed up and calls her some bad names. (I guess verbal abuse is a thing? But this all felt reactionary to Amber purposefully riling him up.)
