Well yeah, but if you choose not to play they just let you go supposedly. If they choose to play, that just gives them higher chance of seeing stuff that would require the tomodachi game runners to kill them and at the very least you'd be in exactly the same situation afterwards. Regardless, escaping with your lives seems like it should be your top and only priority. Why would they even be able to enforce the debt once you leave?
If you look at that from the reverse perspective, these guys just kidnapped you and say you owe an obscene amount of money; would you really trust that they'd let you walk out the door and never see you again, even if they said you could? And if you did leave and the kidnappers got nothing out of it, then the person who arranged for this would be as good as dead; a little harsh even if they did betray you.

But it's not a hypothetical situation. They are directly in the situation. "Hypothetically, if you were in the debt that you are right now, I'd lend you the money no problem". That doesn't make any sense.
The hypothetical was "if he had the money." Shibe was saying that he'd be willing to stick his neck out for a friend, and everyone else agreeing with him was their implicit agreement to participate in the game. At this point they're still believing their friendship was unbreakable and that they're all in it together (since they supposedly all have their own debt now). Of course that may not apply to the person who got them into the game, but Sawaragi had her own reasons for not wanting to focus on that, and the others just kind of went with her conviction. That's not to say the culprit should be so easily forgiven, but given all the circumstances at play, deciding to play the game together seemed like a pretty reasonable option.
