They also told Putin directly that Ukraine in NATO was still on the table , leading to his insecurity and it remaining a source of conflict. That's one of his biggest gripes. Why do you think Russia is invading right now and one of their main demands is Ukraine agrees to never join NATO. Duh settle down Keith_Valentine posted... Go look at a map of NATO countries , Wings , we are all up in Russia's ass, creeping to their border. You know about the Monroe doctrine , the US said stay out of our hemisphere. Russia wants the same thing and we basically said , tough s***. So this is where we are. You say you don't like Russia. Say no one should prevent Russia from invading countries around them which is the only reason NATO even exists.
