Once upon a time it could have been argued the left and right media each shared pieces of the full picture. It became all too clear, however, that whatever the left says or does, however factual or backed by evidence, the right will claim the opposite with their only "evidence" being more claims to the contrarian way of "thinking." Also, lots of making bad decisions because "Screw the libs."

Both sides do this, in the UK our left-wing party is particularly egregious in this respect. Parties are leaning really hard on being opposition to eachother so they can capitalise on the current power's failings rather than establishing policies of their own.
