If you lost out to somebody in life becuase they were wealthier, you're lose to others just as much due to the above. It's like you missed the "limited scope" of his argument. Me being more athletic than someone else makes me more competitive than them in specific circumstances. That same person can be better than me in other areas. Very rarely does someone's lack of athletic ability totally cripple their ability to be competitive across every field.
