Did Skyrim not deserve critical acclaim despite all of its technical issues? Fallout New Vegas? Even games like Batman Arkham Asylum had a pretty significant bug that could erase your data at launch. Where do you draw the line? If youre going to call out Pokemon Legends Arceus, you have to do the same with every other critically acclaimed game that had issues on launch. Some far worse than Legends Arceus despite having far better reviews.

I mean, to me it seems pretty undeniable that at some point, a series becomes so popular that it commands critical acclaim off of its name alone, almost regardless of the state of the game when it comes out. Just look at the difference between what reviewers had to say about Dark Souls 2 vs what the fanbase actually thought of it.

I do think it's a bad thing when companies like Bethesda can put out games that are fundamentally broken in many ways and get high praise for it from big name reviewers, while offloading the task of fixing the game onto moddders
