Also, I think I'm fairly far into Requiem at this point, and I'm really liking it. Heavy spoilers again, but if anyone is interested in how that's going:

Gratien's betrayal & death was brutal, even if I kind of expected it. Jacopo's story in the original mentioned that a meeting with an old friend ended with an attempt on his life, and it had to be Gratien from what I know of the entire plotline. I couldn't imagine him surviving after that either, but it still hurt. I liked him a lot, so seeing him fall as far as just sheer jealousy over who took the throne and betray Jacopo over that before dying was harsh.

Odilon's death was a bummer too. I was starting to really like him a lot, and then...well, he got rock'd. Not the most important character ever, but he was shockingly likable for what he was.

Jacopo's fall from grace is really hard to see play out. I liked him in the main game, and he's only gotten way better in the side story, so seeing him gradually go mad is rough. I think he's second to Michel for me for the entire storyline by now. I don't see anyone passing Michel, though, because he was just a superb main character.

I'm also liking Maria so much in this one, it's kind of shocking since I really disliked her in the main game due to the third door (though her role in the final door was great in that, even if she wasn't around THAT much in it). I don't really know how her fate is going to turn out, since there weren't really any hints about that from the original game, but I have a bad feeling that it's going to go south since this storyline is so heavy on the tragedy.
