It's not a secret that white people were the slavers in US history, so why is the qualifier necessary
If it's not a secret, why do you care if it's being used as a qualifier? Why omit it? other than subervsion?

It's a actual fact and saying disingenuous statements like "groups of people conducted slavery in the US" is how history is slowly corrupted to make it seem like slavery wasn't that bad.

White people" is a wide blanket term, which is where a lot of the pushback comes from. You roll your eyes if somebody says "white people freed the slaves," right? That's the same wide blanket. The rich and powerful propagated slavery in the US, and to boil that down to the racial profile of "white people" does a disservice to everyone.

Except that's also factually incorrect, EVERYONE fought to end slavery, it wasn't just white people.

Sure, it was abolished by Lincoln and we all specifically mention it as such, but to say that only white people ended slavery is watering down US history.

I still stand by it, "US slavery was bad" does not require racial context; all that does is inflame race relations by blanketing the blame.

This statement is board and makes it seem like everyone in the US was practicing slavery, which is incorrect. You are literally trying to whitewash history lol.

This is just the newest attempt of "the civil war was only about state rights, we ain't racists!"
