Not trying to be argumentative but I got two issues here:

1) It's not a secret that white people were the slavers in US history, so why is the qualifier necessary? What does it contribute, does highlighting it serve any purpose? It's not context if it doesnt clarify anything, taking out "white people" doesnt remove any context because theyre the only ones!

2) "White people" is a wide blanket term, which is where a lot of the pushback comes from. You roll your eyes if somebody says "white people freed the slaves," right? That's the same wide blanket. The rich and powerful propagated slavery in the US, and to boil that down to the racial profile of "white people" does a disservice to everyone.

I still stand by it, "US slavery was bad" does not require racial context; all that does is inflame race relations by blanketing the blame.
