no year is a good year for the jets to have top ten draft picks because the problem with the front office is they want to make flashy picks and think they can turn around either side of the ball with like one pick

So, in that sense, that mock makes sense to me in a "what the Jets will do" way because it's so easy to see them go "Oh the defense was ranked last." and "Let's get Wilson some weapons, that'll turn it around!"

And it's like, actually, if you watch them the Jets were occasionally capable of playing somewhat competent on defense so like while, yeah, obviously you could improve them there, I also think if you could just put those handful of performances in a bottle and replicate it they could be... well, not last in the league statistically, at least. While the problem on offense is less "Wilson has no one to throw to" (which isn't wrong) and more "dude takes off running for his life all the time" which was true when it was Darnold, and before that.

I've said it before but I'm not joking when I say that if the Jets had drafted Mahomes they would have ruined his career because he'd be on the run all the time and put up terrible stats and after 4 years they'd trade/cut him and if he somehow found himself in a decent situation after that (which would be unlikely) he'd be able to show who he is but more likely than not they'd just ruin him.

Like Wilson probably isn't the answer but just Darnold and everyone before him going back to like... Pennington at least, there was just never any chance to begin with. Build an elite OL first and then maybe you can see what you have at QB.

I mean they could also draft on the defensive line too I guess but seriously my top priority for this for like an entire decade has been OL and it probably will be for another decade or two into the future.
