The drama is because that wasn't what happened originally. Instead rich and famous person was given an exception he didnt really qualify for. Then he was denied entry at the last minute. Then a judge said "what more could he have done?" and let him in again. Then it was found out that he lied about even doing the minimum effort he had claimed to have done before coming to Australia.
