Reportedly he filed for the wrong type of visa, and in attempting to correct it, there were questions about whether he actually qualified for the exemption, so his request was ultimately rejected.

The AO tried to act like it had the unilateral right to invite people into the country when this first became a story.

It was a terrible look.

While I'm sure he's rich enough to be able to get a fake medical exemption there's no way he actually has a legit reason not to get one. Good for Australia for not letting him sidestep their rules just because he's famous.

I'm a big Djokovic guy but I'm even more of a "dunking on anti-vaxxers" guy, so I do love to see it.

Hard to imagine anyone being upset with a story that amounts to the rich and famous not getting to bypass the rules for being rich and famous.

He is being held until Monday to decide if he's going to be deported or not. Serbia meanwhile is all up in arms claiming it's an attack against all of serbia lol.

It sounds like the state and the country had different views (due to being on different political spectrums) about what would be a valid exemption, the most likely point is whether or not a prior infection in the past 6 months counts. So the state told djokovic that it was a valid exemption "According to them" and the country told the state to butt out. But ultimately the exemption did not meet national standards.
