You say you want to forcefully take over a country with relatively few resources that will be a thorn in your side for the rest of time? Uh...OK. You do that. It sucks for Ukrainians, but we can't save them anyways. Putin's sphere of influence crap is pretty meaningless at the point of a gun: it wins him political points in his country (apparently) but not much else.
