MORE ABOUT THOSE SMASH-CHARACTERS WHO GOT IN BEFORE SHEIK:

So lets get more specific about our previous Smash-entrants listed above.

Sheik was beaten to GameFAQs matches by the following individual NPCs perceived to be jokes that were seen in some capacity from the series:

*Paddle, which has been in a bonus match.
*? Block, which has been a proper entrant in one contest and beat a former contest champion in another contest's bonus poll.
*Sandbag, which has been in two contests and advanced to the second round before.
*Mudkip, which has been in two contests and advanced to the second round twice.
*Master Hand, which has been seen in two contests and won two matches.
*Tingle, who has been in three contests.
*Waluigi, who has been in three contests and advanced to the second round before.
*A wonderful horse unfairly considered to be a joke, which won a match and was LFF'd out of its chance to horseshoe-kick many others.

How about playable characters though? Here are some stats of playable Smash-characters we saw in a match before Sheik ever entered a contest.

*1/2 of the Ice Climbers
*2 Kid Icarus characters
*3 variations of Link
*5 Fire Emblem characters
*6 Pokemon and 1 trainer
*18 third party characters

*All 12 original Smash characters made it into the original SSB.

*Melee has five playable snubs (Sheik, Dr. Mario, Popo, Pichu, Roy).

*Brawl has five playable snubs (Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, Ivysaur, Popo, R.O.B.)

*SSB4 3DS + Wii U has twenty-five playable snubs (Sheik, Luma, Bowser Jr. +7 Koopa Kids, Zero Suit Samus, Robin, Duck, Greninja, R.O.B , Villager, Captain Alph, Wii Fit Trainer, Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, Roy, Corrin, Miis x3)

*Ultimate has thirty-eight playable snubs (Sheik, Dark Samus, Popo, Dr. Mario, Pichu, Roy, Dark Pit, Zero Suit Samus, Ivysaur, Captain Alph, R.O.B., Wii Fit Trainer, Luma, Robin, Bowser Jr. +7 Koopa Kids, Duck, Corrin, Inkling, Incineroar, Piranha Plant, Kazooie, Byleth, Min-Min, Alex, Zombie, Enderman, Pyra, Mythra, Miis x3).

Lets look deeper into the times Smash-hype got new playable Smash characters in over Sheik:

*2007: 3 contest newcomers debuted from Brawls reveal-hype (Meta Knight, Pit, Ike) and 2 more debuted from general Smash-hype (Mewtwo, Marth).
*2008: 4 contest newcomers debuted from Smash debuts after Brawls release (Lucario, Diddy Kong, King Dedede, Lucas) and 3 more debuted from general Smash-hype (Falco, Sandbag, Nana)
*2013: 3 more debuted from SSB4s general Smash-hype (Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Mr. Game and Watch).
*2018: 2 contest newcomers debuted from Ultimates reveal-hype (Isabelle, Richter Belmont) and 1 more debuted from Ultimates general Smash-hype (Rosalina).

One more estimated stat: how many characters were to some degree in a Smash-game or confirmed to be in the next Smash-game per contest? I had to make some guesses because I'm not looking up info like which day we had access to which game's trophies, but roughly speaking..

2002: ~8/64 (12.5.%)
2003: ~13/64 (20.31%)
2004: ~10/64 (15.63%)
2005-Villains: ~4/32 (12.5%)
2005: ~11/67 (16.42%)
2006-Females: ~3/32 (9.38%)

We basically had FIFTY Smash-characters in our last Character Battle and SIXTY in the Character Battle before -- and we've had ten of these Character Battles over almost two decades -- and yet Sheik cant make it in once? Not one time? Not even in the Female Bracket? Or when we had two hundred forty-three spots available? Or when Smash-characters made up over a third of our bracket? Or when we have like eighteen characters who only debuted here because of Smash hype? Or when Smash took over a third of the most recent contest's roster?

Get out of here. This site loves Smash and that's not going away, so Its time to allow Sheik!
