I am more than 50% complete with Year of the Dragon. I always liked the different characters, and I think they did an excellent job remaking them. While most of my vivid memories about mini-games/isolated activities that I had negative feelings toward are from Spyro 2, I did come across one here that I must have forgot about in the original version. There's one where you are in control of Stella and have to stay ahead of these dumb whatevers hauling bombs in the swamp level in order to break rocks and stomp on mushrooms. This is basically a long series of trial and error because of their erratic movements (each character has their own path you must pay attention to), mushrooms only stay down for a few seconds, and the windup needed to get Stella above or on top of a mushroom. I was so glad to get that one over with.

Anyway, when I first played through the games in the early 00s, I want to say that my ranking was 3 > 2 > 1. When I bought them as PS Classics about a decade ago, that changed to 3 > 1 > 2. As it is shaping up right now, the Reignited Trilogy is making me think 1 > 3 > 2. While there are some standout exceptions in Year of the Dragon, I guess that I never realized how much more elaborate the level design and subsequent platforming 1 had over the rest.
