Trials & Tribulations
Phoenix and Edgeworth's Dynamic
The Hair Flip
Maya Fey
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Protagonist Miles Edgeworth
The Golden Court (L-3)

Simon Blackquill - Other than Apollo, I'd say Blackquill is my favorite Ace Attorney character they've created since the original trilogy. He's almost like an homage to all the previous prosecutors. He's cerebral and logical like Edgeworth, has a penchant for violence like Franziska, is fond of illogical metaphors like Godot, and gives everyone weird nicknames like Klavier. Oh, and he's a fantastic opponent, to boot. I love 5-2 so much primarily because he nails Apollo to the wall the entire first trial day, and the big triumphant moment of the second day isn't exposing L'Belle; it's Apollo finally being able to stand up to Blackquill.

Presenting Your Attorney's Badge to Everyone You Meet - If you don't do this, are you really playing Ace Attorney? It's kind of funny because there were actually a couple of instances in the original game where presenting the badge was necessarily to advance the story. I'm not sure it's ever been necessary since then, but they always keep it in the inventory because they know (and frequently lampshade) that fans love to do this.

Cross-examining Animals
Ladders vs. Stepladders

Damon Gant - He's everything that Redd White was supposed to be. Gant is a tough as nails opponent who has his own unique set of weapons that no one else has at their disposal as the police chief. He has the defendant under his thumb, and he's one of the few people who's ever been able to legitimately rattle Edgeworth. Taking him down is incredibly satisfying, and the lightning bolt animation is still perhaps the greatest damage animation in the series.

Dhurke Sahdmadhi
Psycho-Locks

The Herlock Sholmes "Logic and Reasoning Spectacular"

Turnabout Reclaimed (5-6) - As much as I tend to say the case is overrated (I don't think it's the best DD case like many do), it's still fantastic. Shipshape Aquarium is one of my favorite Ace Attorney locations ever, and it features one of the greatest testimonies ever as well in "The Dissin' of Phoenix Wright." Here's my controversial 5-6 opinion: Crab > Rimes

Justice for All
The Mood Matrix

The Adventure of the Runaway Room (G1-3) - This case is wild, man. You'd figure the game would ease you in to your first jury trial, but nope! There's this profound sense of unease throughout the whole thing, whether it's your clearly suspicious client, suddenly appearing bloodstains, or evidence going up in flames, quite literally. It's been a while since a case made me feel like that, so I appreciate that a lot.

G2-4's Dance of Deduction - An odd admission up front that I made in my GAA playthrough topic: I find the weird German song that plays during this part strangely enchanting. This particular Dance of Deduction threw me for a loop because, just as soon as you thought Ryunosuke had solved the thing, Sholmes steps in, takes charge, and gets everything right for the first time ever. I thought it was a nice little touch because it shows how well he knows Iris and how much he cares for her deep down.

Gregory Edgeworth
Enoch Drebber
Punished Apollo
Ryutaro Naruhodo

Ema Skye - Unpopular opinion time: Grumpy Ema is the best version of the character. It's one of the few things Apollo Justice got right over the original trilogy. I love this weird friction Ema has with both Apollo and Klavier. I guess I can live with the more fulfilled Ema we get in SoJ, but either way, it's better than 1-5 Ema, who's honestly not a great character or sidekick because they clearly wanted her to be a Maya stand-in and she's just not.

Kay Faraday
Spirit Channeling
Investigation ~ Core 2001
I Can't Defeat Tree Man
Herlock Sholmes Dancing Animations
Daley Vigil/Gossip
Robin Newman

Believe me, any comic relief I may provide is entirely unintentional.

Ini & Mimi Miney
Sebastian Debeste
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Phoenix Wright
3-1 Phoenix's Shirt and What It Really Stands For

Olive Green - I certainly never would have predicted what her character arc would have become after G1-4. She manages to be very sympathetic and tragic while also not being entirely innocent at the same time. I think her personality is a little flat, but overall her role in the story is pretty good.

Edgeworth's Cravat
Dahlia's Constipation
The Fact That Phoenix Once Tipped a Cow
Peace, Love, and Understanding

Klavier Gavin - Klavier's a weird case for a prosecutor because he's clearly good at his job. He's just...not a good opponent. I feel like they wanted to walk the line between him wanting to win the case and wanting to reveal the truth, but it wasn't very successful. They wanted him to be a friendly rival in the Edgeworth mold, and it works better outside of court, for some reason, although I love most of his prosecutor animations.

Juror No. 4

Japanifornia - It's so wild that the English localization essentially boxed itself in because they needed to establish a time zone to make the passport contradiction work in 1-1. That one little detail is the only reason they continue to insist Ace Attorney takes place in the United States, and I actually respect the heck out of them for sticking to their guns and maintaining the continuity of the series despite the occasional silliness it creates (besides, I do enjoy the funny webcomics it spawns).

Moe's Fresh Prince Reference
Multiple Witnesses Mechanic
Case 1s That Tease Dynamics in the Final Case
The Adventure of the Great Departure (G1-1)

Soseki Natsume - Honestly, the guy is kind of annoying a lot of the time because he's almost impossible to have a rational discussion with (which isn't necessarily uncommon for defendants!). He does have some great animations though, and it does feel good to get him off the hook. Also, it was cool for Takumi to include a real-life person in the game, even if it does make the timeline of events wonky...!

I'm not sure I like you wagging your finger at me as though I were some hoser!

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney - I have a weird relationship with this game. It frustrates the heck out of me in a way no other game in the series does, but I can still replay it and largely enjoy myself to this day. For everything the game gets right, there are one or two missteps that accompany it. I still remember playing this game for the first time and just the tension I felt waiting until we learned what caused Phoenix Wright to get disbarred. If the Hair Flip is the greatest gut punch the series has given me in a positive sense, that's the greatest gut punch the series has given me in a negative sense.

No Game No Life Cornered Remix
Raiten Menimemo
Shouting "Objection!" into the system's mic
Logic Chess
Phoenix/Edgeworth Ship

Great Ace Attorney Being Stingy with the Pursuit Theme - Ace Attorney is a series built on using the right song at the right time, but the OT was never shy about giving you plenty of all of its best songs. I feel like this started to change with AAI, where they had the Presto theme that only played during the final cross-examination, and you see examples of it in every game since. Dual Destinies is very sparing in using its outstanding Announce the Truth theme, for instance.

2-3's Murder Physics
The Adventure of the Unbreakable Speckled Band (G1-2)

You look like I did after I mistakenly took a swig of Worcestershire sauce.
