Medussa posted... basically, if you make a clean pass more than 15 meters downfield, play stops and the defenders have to back off. it only takes a couple seconds (vs the 20-40 in american football), but if things go right, it happens a lot. kick the ball, reset positions. kick the ball, reset positions. teams can play a game with more flow, but they don't have to, and it seems like not is generally preferred strategy, at least until the defense is condensed closer to the sticks and passes get easier to contest.
