It's a real shame what they did with the sequels, and the new movie coming out soon looks like it will be an absolute tire fire, but the best thing about the Matrix is you can watch the first movie as a self-contained story, and pretend that none of the sequels ever happened --- Props to azuarc, the current Guru of the Decade.
